Overview

Join a leading healthcare facility as a Cytology Technician, where your expertise in cytology diagnostics will contribute to patient care and clinical excellence. Responsibilities

  • Microscopically examine and diagnose gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides for infectious, pre-malignant, and malignant disease processes.
  • Assist clinicians with Rapid On-site Evaluations (ROSE) during procedures such as CT, US, EUS, and EBUS.
  • Perform duties required by CLIA, including documenting interpretations, total slides screened, and hours spent screening.
  • Maintain specimen integrity and verify patient identification for all samples examined.
  • Enter and report diagnostic results into the laboratory information system accurately.
  • Ensure confidentiality of patient test results in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Adhere to all local, federal, CLIA, and CAP regulations, participating in proficiency-testing programs as applicable.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical lab, physical, or biological science.
  • Meet CLIA requirements (CFR 493.1483).
  • Meet ASCP requirements for Cytotechnologist or pass ASCP registry within one year of start date if not certified prior to employment.
  • Meet state licensure requirements, if applicable.
  • Experience with fine-needle aspiration (FNA) adequacy procedures.
  • Training or certification in liquid-based cytology, with Thin Prep experience preferred.

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory sciences or related field.
  • Current cytology licensure as required by the state.
  • Experience working in a clinical laboratory environment performing cytology testing.
  • Familiarity with CLIA regulations and proficiency-testing protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting, with attention to detail and confidentiality.
