Lab – Phlebotomist

Responsibilities

– Draw quality blood samples from patients, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established practices and procedures – Prepare specimens for laboratory testing with attention to detail and accuracy – Explain procedures to patients to create a trusting and confident environment – Maintain documentation and records related to specimen collection and processing – Ensure a safe, professional, and clean environment for patients and staff – Demonstrate leadership behaviors, process excellence, and sensitivity to patient confidentiality – Perform specimen collection duties with confidence and precision, complying with safety standards and organizational policies – Collaborate effectively within a healthcare team and support daily operations

Required Skills

– Exceptional venipuncture skills suitable for pediatric and geriatric patients – Ability to work independently with minimal supervision – Strong customer service skills in a healthcare or retail environment – Keyboard and data entry proficiency to document procedures accurately – Error-free work performance in a fast-paced environment – Reliable transportation and punctuality for scheduled shifts

Additional Skills & Requirements

– High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred – Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington – Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required; over one year preferred – Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed – Must list home city and commute time to the worksite on resume (within 20-25 minutes) – Candidates currently students should ensure their school schedule does not conflict with shifts – Must have reliable transportation to the worksite, as rideshare is not considered sufficient
