Responsibilities
- Draw blood samples from patients accurately and safely, following established procedures and safety protocols.
- Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling and documentation in accordance with policies.
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signatures post-venipuncture for specimen verification.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of procedures and patient interactions.
- Create a professional environment that promotes trust, confidence, and positive interactions with patients, clients, and staff.
- Operate independently and efficiently, managing multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
- Contribute to a safe environment by adhering to safety guidelines and policies regarding employee health and safety.
- Support process excellence and demonstrate leadership behaviors in daily activities.
- Travel between multiple locations as needed, covering Patient Service Center and in-office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform error-free blood collection procedures, including pediatric and geriatric draws and capillary collections.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record, if applicable.
Additional Skills & Requirements
- Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training is preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred, especially in California, Nevada, and Washington.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as necessary.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between multiple location sites.
