Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality venipuncture, capillary draws, and specimen collections on patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
- Verify patient identity using correct demographic checks, and ensure proper labeling of specimens in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of each sample.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all collection activities and patient interactions.
- Create a welcoming, professional, and safe environment for patients, answering questions and explaining procedures with clarity and empathy.
- Adhere to safety protocols, infection control practices, and confidentiality policies at all times.
- Support operational needs across various locations, including patient service centers and clinical offices, often requiring flexibility for travel and shift adjustments.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors by embracing process improvements and delivering excellent customer service.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Strong proficiency in venipuncture, capillary collection, and specimen handling.
- Ability to accurately verify patient information and label specimens in a high-pressure environment.
- Exceptional communication and customer service skills, with an emphasis on building trust with patients.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.
- Proficiency with data entry and electronic health records.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Phlebotomy certification, especially in California, Nevada, or Washington.
- Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three years of professional phlebotomy experience, in diverse patient populations.
Other Requirements:
- Availability to work Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, with rotating Saturday shifts from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.
- Flexibility to work across multiple locations, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Physical ability to perform blood draws and handle specimens, including standing for extended periods.
