Responsibilities
– Draw blood samples from patients across all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations, ensuring procedures are performed accurately and safely.
– Prepare and label specimens for laboratory testing following established protocols.
– Maintain accurate records and documentation for all collected specimens and procedures.
– Communicate clearly with patients, explaining procedures and establishing a professional, reassuring environment.
– Follow safety standards and infection control procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
– Assist with other specimen collection or laboratory tasks as needed, under supervision.
Required Skills
– Strong proficiency in phlebotomy, with the ability to draw blood efficiently from pediatric and geriatric patients.
– Excellent customer service skills to create a positive experience for patients.
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting.
– Data entry and keyboard skills to record patient and specimen information accurately.
– Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
Additional Skills & Requirements
– High school diploma or equivalent required.
– Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required; more than 1 year preferred.
– Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
– Medical assistant or paramedic training is a plus.
– Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, or overtime as needed, with availability based on staffing requirements.
– Prior customer service experience in retail or service environments preferred.
