Lab – Phlebotomist

Responsibilities

  • Draw blood samples from patients while following established practices and procedures
  • Prepare specimens for laboratory testing with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Explain procedures to patients to create a trusting and comfortable environment
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of collected samples
  • Ensure a safe, professional, and clean environment at all times
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors and promote a positive image to patients and staff
  • Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties as required

Required Skills

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
  • Ability to provide high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Keyboard and data entry proficiency
  • Effective communication skills for patient interaction
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required; over one year preferred
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training is a plus
  • Must be flexible and available for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed
  • Reliable transportation to the worksite is essential (personal vehicle preferred; ride-sharing or public transportation not acceptable)
  • Candidate must be within 20-25 minutes of the worksite and able to commit to scheduled shifts
  • Must be punctual, dependable, and committed to staying for entire shifts without excessive absenteeism or tardiness
