Responsibilities

• Draw blood samples from patients, including pediatric and geriatric populations, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience.
• Prepare specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established procedures.
• Verify patient demographic information and label samples accurately, obtaining patient initials and signatures as required.
• Maintain thorough documentation and records of specimen collection and processing activities.
• Create a professional, safe, and welcoming environment for patients and staff.
• Communicate clearly with patients, addressing questions and explaining procedures to foster trust and confidence.
• Follow all policies and procedures related to patient safety, confidentiality, and infection control.
• Perform duties independently with minimal supervision, managing multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Travel to multiple locations, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy sites, as needed.

Required Skills

• Proven ability to perform blood draws accurately and safely, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for specimen labeling and documentation.
• Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients and team members.
• Ability to operate data entry systems and maintain detailed records.
• Capability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred, especially in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections, required; experience in a patient service center preferred.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record if applicable.
• Flexible schedule to accommodate weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime, with travel between multiple locations as needed.
• Experience with keyboard and data entry.
