Responsibilities

  • Draw quality blood samples from patients, including pediatric and geriatric individuals, following established procedures to ensure safety and accuracy.
  • Prepare specimens for lab testing, verifying patient demographic information and labeling samples correctly in the presence of the patient.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, creating a trustworthy environment by explaining procedures clearly and professionally.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to specimen collection and processing.
  • Ensure a safe and professional environment at all times, adhering to safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform specimen collection and processing duties confidently, demonstrating leadership behaviors and process excellence.
  • Support coverage across multiple locations, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy settings, with flexible hours and minimal notice.

Required Skills

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills to engage effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors.
  • Accurate keyboard and data entry skills for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently and handle stressful situations professionally.

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
  • 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment is highly preferred.
  • Valid driver license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record if travel is involved.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime, to support multiple locations.
  • Strong commitment to safety policies, patient confidentiality, and a customer-focused approach.
