Responsibilities
– Draw blood specimens from patients using proper techniques, including pediatric and geriatric collections
– Prepare blood samples for laboratory testing with attention to detail and accuracy
– Verify patient demographic information and ensure proper labeling of specimens in the presence of the patient
– Maintain accurate records and documentation of procedures and patient data
– Explain procedures to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence
– Follow established safety and confidentiality practices to ensure a professional environment
– Perform specimen collection and processing duties according to approved procedures
– Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
– Demonstrate leadership behaviors and process excellence in daily tasks
Required Skills
– Strong phlebotomy skills with experience in pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
– Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
– Exceptional customer service and communication skills
– Attention to detail and accuracy in specimen collection and record keeping
– Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively in a high-volume setting
Additional Skills & Requirements
– High school diploma or equivalent required
– Phlebotomy certification preferred; certification required in certain states (California, Nevada, Washington)
– Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
– 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience required, with experience in a patient service center environment preferred
– Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed
– Reliable transportation, valid driver license, and clean driving record if applicable
– Capable of handling multiple priorities in busy clinical settings
