Responsibilities
- Draw blood specimens from patients of all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures and safety standards
- Prepare collected specimens for lab testing, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation
- Explain procedures to patients to create a trustful environment and alleviate anxiety
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of specimen collection and related activities
- Perform specimen processing duties with confidence, adhering to both clinical and forensic collection protocols when necessary
- Ensure a safe and professional environment at all times, promoting a positive experience for patients and staff
- Respond promptly to staffing needs which may include weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime shifts
- Work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating organizational commitment and process excellence
Required Skills
- Excellent phlebotomy skills with experience in pediatric and geriatric draw procedures
- Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service skills, especially in retail or service environments
- Keyboard and data entry proficiency to maintain accurate documentation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Additional Skills & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington
- Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required; over one year preferred
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite within a 20-25 minute commute
- Flexibility to work pre-scheduled shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Availability to work whenever scheduled, punctuality, and full shift attendance are essential
