Responsibilities
- Draw quality blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations
- Prepare specimens for lab testing following established procedures
- Verify patient demographic information and ensure accurate labeling of specimens in the presence of the patient
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of procedures and specimen collection
- Create a professional and reassuring environment for patients, explaining procedures clearly and confidently
- Perform specimen collection and processing duties with a focus on safety, confidentiality, and process excellence
- Operate independently with minimal supervision, ensuring timely completion of daily tasks
- Travel to multiple locations as needed, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy sites
Required Skills
- Proven proficiency in phlebotomy, including pediatric and geriatric blood draws and capillary collections
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a high-volume environment
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver license with a clean driving record (if applicable)
- Keyboard and data entry skills for documentation purposes
Additional Skills & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington
- 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
- Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment is highly preferred
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed
- Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment
- Travel required to multiple locations with flexible hours to meet staffing needs
