Lab – Phlebotomist

Responsibilities

  • Draw quality blood samples from patients, ensuring safety and accuracy in specimen collection.
  • Prepare specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures.
  • Verify patient demographic information and label samples in the presence of the patient.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to phlebotomy procedures.
  • Explain procedures to patients, creating a trusting and comfortable environment.
  • Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection as needed.
  • Operate in various settings, including patient service centers and in-office locations.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures related to safety, confidentiality, and customer service.

Required Skills

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors.
  • Proficiency with keyboard/data entry.

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
  • 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections, required.
  • Experience in a patient service center environment is preferred.
  • Flexible scheduling, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime, as needed.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record if applicable.
  • Willingness to travel and work at multiple locations with minimal notice.
