What You’ll Do:
- Travel to multiple healthcare sites, patient homes, or clinical locations to perform blood draws in accordance with established procedures.
- Draw high-quality, error-free blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
- Verify patient identities by initialing labels in their presence post-venipuncture, ensuring specimen labeling accuracy.
- Explain procedures to patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and comfort while demonstrating professionalism.
- Maintain detailed documentation of collection activities, including demographic verification and specimen handling.
- Follow all safety protocols and confidentiality policies, ensuring a secure and respectful environment.
- Assist with specimen processing and transportation, ensuring specimens are prepared correctly for laboratory testing.
- Adapt to changing schedules and locations as needed, demonstrating flexibility and reliability.
What You Bring to the Role:
- Minimum 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Valid phlebotomy certification (preferred but not mandatory); training as a medical assistant or paramedic is a plus.
- Strong skills in venipuncture, capillary puncture, and specimen handling.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain procedures clearly and empathetically.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing multiple site visits efficiently.
- Dependable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
- Ability to adhere to policies, dress code, and safety guidelines.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts, as needed.
- Comfort with travel and a proactive attitude toward maintaining punctuality across multiple sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment.
- Knowledge of medical data entry and specimen processing systems.
- Previous experience working with diverse patient populations, including children and seniors.
- Ability to submit mileage expenses for travel between sites.
