Clerical – Surgical Coordinator Assistant

Overview

Responsibilities

  • Assist in scheduling surgical procedures, ensuring efficient utilization of operating room time and resources
  • Communicate with patients regarding pre-operative instructions, insurance verification, and financial information
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation related to surgeries and appointments
  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to confirm surgical dates and requirements
  • Support patients in completing necessary forms and consent documentation prior to surgery
  • Follow up with patients post-operatively to address concerns and ensure proper recovery
  • Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries and resolving issues promptly
  • Assist with inventory management of surgical supplies and equipment
  • Support the surgical team with administrative tasks as needed

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration or related field is advantageous
  • Previous experience in a medical or surgical office, ideally in plastic surgery or a similar specialty
  • Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is preferred

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • Preferred candidates will have prior experience in surgical or medical office support roles
  • Relevant certifications or training in healthcare administration are a plus
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Dress code: Black scrubs with sneakers or Berkenstocks; no Crocs
