Responsibilities

• Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia, including preparing anesthesia equipment prior to patient arrival, setting up medications and supplies, and ensuring the cleanliness and availability of specialized anesthesia equipment.
• Continuously communicate with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs, and anesthesia technologists to meet their needs throughout the day.
• Support clinicians with difficult intubations and central line placements as needed.
• Operate cell-saver machines, track lab reports, and participate in advanced surgical cases such as cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, trauma, among others.
• Work directly with service-specific faculty and division chiefs of designated specialties.
• Provide on-call coverage as required, supporting patient care during off-hours, holidays, and weekends.
• Ensure anesthesia equipment is in proper working order through preventive maintenance and advanced troubleshooting; serve as a key resource for specialized equipment use and upkeep.
• Assist the Chief Anesthesia Technologist in developing and delivering training programs, including staff education on roles and responsibilities.
• Perform anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting—testing infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, calibrating anesthesia machines, and attaching fiberoptic bronchoscopes to video monitors.
• Prepare operating rooms between cases, set up carts, and provide full-service setup and breakdown at the start and end of each day.
• Coordinate with other hospital units to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and support out-of-OR procedures as needed.
• Provide backup support to the shift supervisor in their absence due to vacation or illness.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by supervisors or management to support departmental operations.

Required Skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Minimum of two years of experience as an anesthesia technician or technologist.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• Preferred: A four-year college education with related technical training, or a two-year college education including technical training with two years of relevant experience.
• Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or other recognized professional certifying body is preferred.
• Ability to work Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with on-call, holiday, and weekend availability based on unit needs.
• Previous experience supporting advanced surgical cases such as cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, or trauma surgeries is advantageous.
