Lab – Phlebotomist

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the collection, processing, and shipping of blood and urine specimens
  • Perform venipuncture to collect blood specimens accurately and safely
  • Observe and collect urine specimens from patients, including observed and supervised collections
  • Follow departmental policies to correctly identify patients prior to specimen collection
  • Label and document specimens properly, preparing them for shipment
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff
  • Communicate effectively with a diverse patient population
  • Follow universal precautions and OSHA standards when handling specimens
  • Strictly adhere to HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Maintain neat, clean, and organized work areas at all times
  • Assist with order processing and office supply management as needed

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 6 months of venipuncture experience required
  • Verifiable track record of providing excellent customer service
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic
  • Strong computer skills, including managing multiple programs, email, and report generation
  • Fast and accurate data entry skills
  • Effective communication skills, clear and concise in interactions

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Physical activities include walking, sitting, bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and squatting
  • Valid certification in phlebotomy and related licensure preferred
  • Schedule includes weekdays with consistent hours, approximately 35 hours per week
