Responsibilities

– Facilitate the collection, processing, and shipping of urine specimens
– Collect urine samples from patients, ensuring proper identification before specimen acquisition
– Conduct observed and supervised specimen collections, monitoring patients during sample provision
– Label, document, and prepare specimens for shipment in compliance with departmental standards
– Demonstrate excellent customer service and compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff
– Communicate effectively with a diverse patient population
– Follow all universal precautions and OSHA standards when handling specimens
– Strictly adhere to HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
– Notify supervisors of low shift volume, irregularities, or procedural deviations
– Maintain a clean, orderly work environment at all times
– Assist with order processing and office supply management as needed

Additional Skills & Requirements

– Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical activities such as walking, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, and twisting
– Prior experience in specimen collection or laboratory support is preferred
– Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA standards, and universal precautions
– Availability to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
– High school diploma or equivalent required; additional healthcare certifications are a plus
