Clinical – Medical Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Obtain and record vital signs, including height, weight, pulse oximetry, and vision testing
  • Prepare patients for exams by recording medical history, medications, and allergies
  • Set up and assist with procedures such as nebulizer treatments and injections (immunizations, intramuscular)
  • Collect specimens including throat swabs, urine samples, and urine dipstick/urinalysis tests
  • Perform laboratory tasks such as blood glucose testing and pregnancy, strep, and urine testing
  • Manage office duties like stocking supplies and maintaining a clean and organized work environment
  • Administer medications and assist with ear lavage and patient rooming
  • Chart patient information accurately in an electronic health record system (EPIC experience required)

Required Skills

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant – Certified (MA-C), with at least 6 months of recent experience in an outpatient adult/pediatric clinic setting
  • Experience obtaining vital signs, performing ECGs, and assisting with procedures
  • Proficiency in specimen collection and laboratory testing procedures
  • Knowledge of administering medications, injections, and other basic clinical skills
  • Experience with charting electronic health records, specifically EPIC
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy urgent care environment
  • Reliable transportation and flexible scheduling availability

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • Current and valid state licensure as a Medical Assistant – Certified (MA-C)
  • Minimum of one year of recent outpatient clinical experience; travel experience preferred
  • Ability to work the specified schedule of two 12-hour shifts and two 8-hour shifts weekly, including Saturdays
  • Willingness to commit to working at least three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day)
  • Must have reliable transportation; no public transit allowed for travel or commuting purposes
