Responsibilities

  • Perform blood draws from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Prepare collected specimens for laboratory analysis, ensuring correct labeling and documentation to maintain specimen integrity.
  • Verify patient demographics and signatures post-venipuncture to ensure accurate labeling and record-keeping.
  • Maintain a safe, professional, and comfortable environment for patients during sample collection.
  • Accurately record and document all procedures, verifying data entries and maintaining required records.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills by communicating clearly and compassionately with patients and staff.
  • Adapt to multiple location assignments and flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to meet staffing needs.
  • Exercise good judgment and exercise confidentiality while handling patient information and specimens.

Required Skills

  • Proven ability to draw blood samples accurately and safely, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in specimen labeling and documentation.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Keyboard and data entry proficiency.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and safety protocols.

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
  • 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Experience working in a patient service center or clinical setting preferred.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a clean driving record if applicable.
  • Flexible with scheduling, including weekends, holidays, and overtime, to cover multiple locations as needed.
