Responsibilities
- Collect blood specimens from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures
- Prepare and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing
- Explain procedures to patients to create trust and ease any anxiety
- Maintain proper records and documentation of collections and patient information
- Ensure a safe, clean, and professional environment at all times
- Follow confidentiality and safety protocols consistently
- Perform specimen processing duties as required, adhering to quality standards
Required Skills
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
- Strong customer service and communication abilities
- Keyboard and data entry proficiency
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet quality standards
- Error-free work in a fast-paced environment
Additional Skills & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
- Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required; more than one year preferred
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite; candidates must be within a 20-25 minute commute
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as scheduled
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish are highly valued
