Overview

Responsibilities
- Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia, including preparing anesthesia equipment prior to patient arrival and ensuring the availability and cleanliness of anesthesia supplies and medications.
- Set up and operate sophisticated anesthesia equipment, perform troubleshooting, and ensure equipment is in good working order with preventive maintenance.
- Help clinicians with difficult intubations and placement of central line catheters, supporting various advanced surgical cases such as cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, and trauma surgeries.
- Operate specialized equipment such as cell-saver machines, infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors; calibrate anesthesia machines and assist with out-of-OR procedures.
- Assist in developing and implementing staff training programs related to anesthesia technology and procedures.
- Support room setup between cases, handle carts and equipment throughout the day, and provide full service setup at day’s end to ensure seamless procedures.
- Participate in on-call coverage and provide backup support to the shift supervisor as needed.
- Collaborate with hospital units to ensure the availability of required equipment for various procedures and support advanced anesthesia procedures both inside and outside the operating room.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors to support the anesthesia team and ensure optimal patient care.
Required Skills
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Two years of experience as an anesthesia technician or similar role.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for anesthesia equipment and monitors.
- Ability to communicate effectively with medical staff and team members.
- Capable of supporting complex surgical cases and emergency procedures.
Additional Skills & Requirements
- A four-year college education including technical training related to anesthesia technology, or a two-year college education with specialized training and two years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination.
- Certification by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or other recognized certifying body is preferred.
- Schedule includes hours from 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, with on-call, holiday, and weekend availability as needed.
- Previous experience working in transplant, vascular, thoracic, or trauma surgical settings is a plus.
