Responsibilities:

• Perform a wide range of complex clinical and diagnostic tests across disciplines including Hematology, Immunohematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, and Serology.
• Handle and process biological specimens, ensuring accurate labeling, identification, and specimen validity.
• Analyze, interpret, and report laboratory results in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements.
• Recognize and troubleshoot issues that may lead to inaccurate test results, applying scientific knowledge and standard procedures.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation; perform quality control testing on reagents and equipment.
• Document all test results, quality control actions, and instrument maintenance accurately and thoroughly.
• Participate in proficiency testing, competency assessments, and other compliance activities to meet regulatory standards.
• Maintain inventory of reagents and supplies, ensuring the laboratory is well-stocked and compliant with safety standards.
• Assist with training and orientation of new team members, students, or visitors as needed.
• Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in ongoing professional development.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related health science field.
• Current and active Florida Medical Technologist (MT) licensure in good standing.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience performing diagnostic testing.
• Proficiency in laboratory procedures for Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and other disciplines.
• Strong attention to detail and precision in specimen handling and test execution.
• Ability to operate laboratory instrumentation effectively; troubleshooting skills are highly valued.
• Knowledge of all applicable regulatory and accreditation standards, including CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with molecular diagnostics or specialized testing.
• Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Prior experience in a high-volume clinical laboratory setting.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related scientific discipline.
• At least one year of proven clinical laboratory experience in a hospital, clinical, or diagnostic laboratory.
• Active Florida MT licensure, with ongoing continuing education to stay current in laboratory practices.

Other Requirements:

• Schedule: 13-week assignment with potential for extension; shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• Ability to work independently during overnight hours.
• Certification: Florida Medical Technologist licensure; CPR certification is a plus.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift specimens and supplies, and perform fine motor tasks.
• Note: This role does not involve travel; local applicants preferred or those who have not previously worked for this facility.
