Travel Radiologic Technologist (CT) – Emergency Department

Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-ray and CT scans, in compliance with established protocols and safety standards.
• Adjust imaging equipment and position patients to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
• Assist physicians and radiologists by providing accurate and timely imaging services essential for diagnosis and treatment.
• Work within certification scope with minimal supervision, maintaining patient safety and comfort.
• Apply radiation safety and protection procedures for patients, staff, and yourself.
• Evaluate the technical quality of images, making adjustments as necessary to ensure optimal diagnostic utility.
• Support emergency department operations by providing imaging services for approximately 8 patients per 24-hour period, supporting routine and emergency imaging needs.
• Collaborate closely with the Radiology Manager regarding scheduling, on-call duties, and workflow.

Required Skills:

• Active Radiologic Technologist license in Iowa or state of practice.
• Proven CT imaging experience in a clinical setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Strong knowledge of radiologic procedures, safety protocols, and patient care.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities in emergency settings.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Prior experience working in emergency departments or urgent care environments.
• Knowledge of radiation safety and protection procedures.
• Experience with digital imaging systems and electronic medical records.
• Ability to operate various imaging equipment, including CT scanners.

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Certified Radiologic Technologist (ARRT or equivalent).
• Previous clinical experience in emergency, trauma, or similar fast-paced environments.
• CT certification or additional specialized training is highly valued.

Other Requirements:

• Availability to work an evening shift (3:00 PM–10:00 PM) on scheduled days, with additional on-call responsibilities.
• On-call availability 2–3 nights per week, including weekends and overnight shifts (10:00 PM–7:00 AM); Friday on-call from 10:00 PM–8:00 AM, with every other weekend on-call.
• Traveler responsible for housing arrangements; local accommodations options include hotels and campgrounds nearby.
• Physical ability to lift and position patients, stand for extended periods, and perform imaging procedures in various settings.
